Liberty Powder Metals is a powder metals supplier and innovation incubator established by Liberty Steel - a fully integrated steel manufacturer and distributor – and supported by the Tees Valley Combined Authority.
We are a growing enterprise providing a wide range of vacuum induction melted powder products and services.
Our goal is to supply a broad spectrum of high quality steel and nickelbased alloy powders, designed to deliver the best results for our customers whichever powder production technique they may choose; be it Additive Manufacturing (AM), Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP), Metal Injection Moulding (MIM), and/or Laser Metal Deposition (LMD).
We work hand-in-hand not only with you, the customer, but the wider support network we have developed across Universities, Research Organisations, Catapult Centres, Powder Traders, and OEMs across the UK and Europe.
Vacuum Induction Melting
250kg batch size with potential capacity of 400 tonnes per annum.
Close-coupled inert gas (argon) atomisation producing powder up to 150μm.
Flexible powder sieving set-up to provide particle size distributions from 15μm upwards to 150μm suitable for a variety of high value powder applications, with all handling, sieving, blending, sampling and packaging carried out under protected atmospheres to minimise oxygen pick-up.
Suite of standard powder analysis techniques to provide particle size distribution, hall/carney flow, tap density, and powder chemistry (through selected partners).
Our vision is to be the UK’s leading hub of expertise in powder-based metals, starting in the Teeside region with £10m investment in a new state-of-the-art facility for vacuum inert gas atomisation and powder processing with our partner the Materials Processing Institute, a world-leading research and innovation partner to the global steel and metals industries specialising in; advanced materials, low carbon energy, the circular economy, and industry 4.0. expand.
