We require you to be working towards, or hold, at minimum a 2:2 degree in a course relevant to the discipline you’re applying for. For technical placements, you will need to be working towards, or hold, a minimum 2:1 degree.
The Speciality Steels business has locations in Sheffield and Rotherham, South Yorkshire; Bolton, Lancashire; and Wednesbury, West Midlands.
Our placements will be based in South Yorkshire as these are our main sites. You will need to be flexible and willing to travel between the two South Yorkshire sites as required.
There are a number of stages on your journey to joining us, but before you start applying the following information is key to a successful application.
We want to know all about you from your education and work experience to your key achievements, aspirations and hobbies.
Following a successful application, we’ll invite you to take part in a telephone interview. We’ll use this time to get to know you better and to find out more about skills, experiences and aspirations. It will also be an opportunity for you to ask us any questions that you may have at this stage in the process.
During the interview, we’ll want to gain a deeper understanding of your skills and capabilities as well as personality and general attitude. You may also be asked to complete a task related to the role you are applying for.
The purpose of a job interview is twofold: it offers us the valuable insight into your personality and abilities, and it allows you the chance to see whether you want to work for us.
At some point during the selection process, we may invite you to attend a site tour. Led by experts, the tour will give you a real insight into what we do and what it’s like working in steel manufacturing.
