Our programmes are designed to develop the technical experts and business experts that we need. We offer programmes in a wide range of business areas. All our programmes offer you an excellent platform from which you will gain great experience to grow your career.
Our graduate programmes last two years, during which you will rotate within your functional discipline to gain as much exposure as possible. Our programmes are designed to maximise your learning, so we will provide you with a balance of on and off the job learning, as well as providing both coaching and mentoring support along the way. We will also support you in your journey to professional accreditation.
We would expect our graduates to be in a substantive position after the 2 year programme, however you are able to apply for positions after your first 12 months.
We are looking for people who are passionate about the area in which they wish to specialise, have excellent communication skills, an inquisitive nature, the courage to challenge, plenty of initiative, adept problem solving skills and a flexible attitude.
We require you to be working towards, or hold at minimum a 2:2 degree in a relevant field to the function you are applying for. However, for our Materials Science/Metallurgy programme, we require you to hold at minimum a 2:1 degree.
The Speciality Steels business has locations in Sheffield and Rotherham, South Yorkshire; Bolton, Lancashire; and Wednesbury, West Midlands.
Our graduate positions will be based in South Yorkshire as these are our main sites. You will need to be flexible and willing to travel between the two South Yorkshire sites as required.

During the selection day you will be asked to perform a series of activities to demonstrate your abilities and suitability for the role. The activities may vary depending on the role you are applying for. After the selection day, we will aim to get back to you at the earliest opportunity. Regardless of the outcome, we will do our best to give you feedback as we know it’s important for your personal development.
At some point during the selection process, we may invite you to attend a site tour. Led by experts, the tour will give you a real insight into what we do and what it’s like working in steel manufacturing.
